Hello! I am Joseph Benziger from Tuticorin, Tamilnadu, India. For about seventeen years, I had the joy of working for an international organisation. between 1969 and 1987. After that, I opted for doing some tangible service to humanity. I opted for spending my life for the benefit of poor, underprivileged, and orphaned children picked up from the lowest strata of the human society. I preferred to go to the neighbouring Madurai city tamilnadu from my home town Tuticorin. In 1987 I migrated to Madurai city, at vllaikkannu theatre road arasaradi kalavasal. I started the home with the name Bethany children’s home.
In 1987 I picked up only three children. In 1988 twenty children came to me seeking admission. I gave our children free food, free clothes, free accommodation, free education, and free medical care thanks to the great goodness, love, and generosity of charity-minded and good-hearted persons. Nearly from seventeen colleges and eleven matriculation schools students helped and supported my work of charity.
Also people from the general public too contributed very much celebrating their birthdays, by way of giving food to our children. In between 1987 and 2020 God showered everything on us. It was a very glorious past. But there was a bolt from the blue. That was the corona pandemic. I was very much incapacitated. I had to close down our home. The children nearly one thousand in number benefitted from our home. Now they are all well placed in life, thanks to the great mercy of God and thanks to their stay and study in our home. God be thanked and praised.
After returning to my home town Tuticorin, in 2020 I wanted to continue my charity service to the children in Tuticorin. So I started my service under the name “The right hand“. But this time with a difference. No home building. Not huddled together in different rooms and halls. Not labeled as orphans.
We picked up very deserving children from very poor families. Each child has a very sad and pathetic story to narrate. Some are pure orphans, and most of them are semi-orphans and the others are children of very poor parents. The parents of most of the children are coolies living in subhuman conditions. The child remains in his or her house with the parents or guardians. Every second Sunday of the month at 5.00 in the evening all the children come to my house.
We give them a monthly provision, more than enough for one month for one child. Rice, Dhall, Edible oil, Sugar, Toothpaste, Talcum powder, Biscuits, Bathing soap, Washing soap, etc., In the beginning of the school year we give each one of them a brand new set of school uniforms, a brand new lunch bag, a brand new school bag, footwear, notebooks, and all the stationary items, etc.
If there are any fees to be paid that too we pay, This is how this humble right hand charity service is going on in this part of the globe without any publicity for the good of the children and for the glory of God. We are eternally indebted to the great souls who help us with a great and deep sense of charity and philanthropy. May God bless their families abundantly.
We have boys and girls, from first grade up to the school final higher secondary education. Our photos are all self-explanatory. We thank you for joining hands with us in this humble, The Right Hand Charity service, done irrespective of caste creed, color, and language. For the major religious festivals, we give our children brand-new dresses, to make them happy
Thank you.
